Xiaomi Mi 5s To Utilize Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner

Wang Yang, a director of Chinese studies at IHS Technology, to announce the Xiaomi Mi 5s will support Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint scanner (called ‘Sense ID’).

An advantage of the Sense ID is that it works through different materials, such as steel, sapphire, glass, and some plastics, which lets it function almost anywhere on the device’s surface. This will let Xiaomi position the fingerprint scanner under the phone’s glass front panel, possibly letting users touch the screen anywhere to unlock their device.

Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint scanner it first debuted in the market with the Le Max Pro. Unlike the capacitive fingerprint technology, this one has more advanced security features. The best part about these sensors are, they have an ability to operate through thin materials such as glass, aluminium or plastic as they use ultrasonic sound. Well, it looks like the upcoming Mi 5s is going to come with the Qualcomm’s Sense ID 3D fingerprint scanner.

According to current rumors, the Xiaomi Mi 5s will sport a fullHD display, and even though the listing does not mention it, you can expect to see a 5.15-inch panel here, as Xiaomi is expected to use Xiaomi Mi 5’s display here. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC is expected to fuel this smartphone, along with the Adreno 530 GPU. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow was also mentioned by AnTuTu, and the company will include their MIUI 8 OS on top of Google’s Android OS. In addition to all this, the Mi 5s is rumored to sport a 3,490mAh battery and two nano SIM card slots, while it will be made out of metal and glass.
