Dec 12, 2016

Turns out we were right as Xiaomi has officially taken the wraps off the Mi Electric Scooter.

The Mi electric scooter features a foldable design that makes it easy to transport, and weighs 12.5kg. Granted it’s not exactly something you can hoist on your shoulders or tuck under your arm and walk for extended periods of time, but it’s relatively light enough to be transported by hand. It comes with an LED front light, a top speed of 25kmph, a battery that’s capable of a range of about 30km, and a dual-brake system with the front wheel sporting E-ABS anti-locking brakes, while the rear wheel uses mechanical disc brakes. The maximum torque of the motor is 16N·m, rated power is 250W and offers instantaneous maximum power up to 500W.

Interestingly, the Mi electric scooter has a Kinetic Energy recovery system that converts kinetic energy into electric energy and offers a better battery life. The battery operated electric scooter comes with a dual-brake system. The front wheel has E-ABS anti-lock system while the rear wheel uses mechanical disc brake. But that’s not the end of the story. Xiaomi’s Mi electric scooter is smart – after all it can be controlled using a companion smartphone. Users can easily pair the Mi electric scooter via an app that lets it track cycling habits, riding speed, and battery life etc.

Users will also have an option of connecting the scooter with their smartphones via Bluetooth. This will then allow the users to track their speed, battery life and other information.

This scooter is ideal for congested areas. We expect shortly to see tracks for scooters in subways and airports?

The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter comes in two color options – Black and White. As for pricing, the Mi electric scooter is relatively cheap at RMB 1,999. It will be available for purchase come 15th of December.
