From what I understood executives confirmed that the Redmi series will now be a standalone brand, meant to offer more budget phones with focus on specifications, while the Mi branded phones will offer more higher-end features. The Redmi brand will go out independently from Xiaomi
The upcoming Redmi 7 series already arrived on Geekbench and TENAA, giving giving us some indication of their specifications. Instead of presenting these specifications I prefer to draw attention to the most important detail with which the new independent smartphone wants to impose – resistance.
This detail confirms what is being discussed a few months ago. While some users expect performance from a new smartphone and stability to the new versions, there is also a fairly large category for which resilience is extremely important.
The smartphone market is not just office users. It also contains people on the move. People who need a smartphone in heavier work conditions.
The delimitation of the two brands is a subtle marketing strategy. I’m curious to see the evolution of the smartphone market.
