Xiaomi has launched Mi Max & MIUI 8 in India after the police was called in to control the fans unhappy they did not receive gifts.

Delhi Police had to be called in at Xiaomi’s special launch event held for its Mi Max smartphone in the city today. The launch event held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium witnessed huge chaos when fans, invited by Xiaomi, started protesting over lack of seats at the stadium. For the event 50,000 fans had registered to come, while the venue could accommodate only 2,000.

This is the first time that police had to called in for a smartphone launch event. The hope of gifts too attracted the large crowd at today’s event.

Xiaomi Mi Max

As noted earlier, the Mi Max has a 6.44 inch display. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 650/652 processor, and along with that has a 4850mAh battery (which Xiaomi claims is 76% greater in capacity than the iPhone 6s Plus’ battery). Other than that, the Mi Max has 3GB and 4GB RAM variants, with storages varying between 32, 64 and 128GB. The fingerprint scanner on the Mi Max sits on the rear, akin to the Redmi Note 3.
