Xiaomi has announced that it is discontinued support for some older devices

Xiaomi has announced that it is officially discontinued support for the Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, and the Mi Note. This means that these models will not be receiving any more public beta or closed beta updates from Xiaomi after the MIUI 9.

“To ensure the best performance of MIUI, we have to make a tough decision of suspending the update of 6 devices after a long-time discussion and evaluation about the release time of devices, active users, hardware performance, etc.” Xiaomi wrote.

Here we are talking about a new test of Xiaomi fans. Even if this decision was made following a survey in the Xiaomi community, fans are cautious about stopping them from using their old smartphones. The past has taught us that such a decision from manufacturers can have unpleasant consequences and force buyers to make new acquisitions.

Technology is developing at an extremely rapid pace, and a product is overtaken in just a few years. Some even faster. What do we do with the old ones? Do we throw them? Do we change them with newer ones? In practice, some use them for a while and then sell them on various platforms at a discounted price. Minimize loss and with a small investment they have a new smartphone. However, in order to sell them they must be able to be used.

MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM (closed beta and public beta)
After November 17th, 2017, update for the following 6 devices, namely, Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, and Mi Note will be suspended, both closed beta and public beta. MIUI Global Beta ROM 7.11.16 is the last beta update for the above devices.

MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM
MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM for the above 6 devices and Redmi 1S will be released gradually from December, 2017 to January, 2018. For users of the above devices who have flashed to MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM, we will provide methods to flash to MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM, please stay tuned to the forum.

Now do you understand why I love Xiaomi? They also respect those who have an old Xiaomi device with overcome technology.
