The biggest change in Xiaomi strategy in India is our focus on offline

Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director of Xiaomi India, wants to open even more offline stores in India.

Manu Kumar Jain,

“If you look at 2017 and 2018 combined, the biggest change in our strategy is our focus on offline,” Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director of Xiaomi India, told Reuters in an interview.

We live in a time dominated by technology. A period dominated by the Internet. A time when online sales grow every day. Should we be surprised that Manu Kumar Jain wants to open more and more offline stores in India this year? Stores where to sell smart products?

Current marketing means innovation and return to the first goals. No matter how much technology will develop, smart commerce will need offline stores. An offline store has multiple benefits. First of all, a local community will develop – it will become a place where local fans will be able to meet and tie up their friends. Second, there will be a place where Xiaomi fans will be able to test the new products. There they will be able to learn to use them efficiently. Third, an offline store will take over the service.

Remind, according to Jain, about 90% of Xiaomi’s sales in India, at 2016, come from online marketplaces. When Xiaomi launched its India operations at 2014, online sales accounted for only 15%.

The Xiaomi team in India is currently considered the best team in the Xiaomi group. I’m waiting for the day that we can talk about a Xiaomi team in the US.
